DSM Triathlon Foundation Grant Presentation

Saturday, April 20, 2013, the Des Moines Triathlon Club (DSMTri) Foundation announced grants to six local athletes. “We recognize there are significant costs associated with participation in the sport of Triathlon. Entry fees, equipment and travel can cost thousands of dollars per year. We are pleased to help offset some of these costs to help allow young athletes to compete at a higher level” said Tim Runyan, Des Moines Triathlon Club President.
Since becoming an Olympic sport in 2000, triathlon has become a rapidly growing sport with significant national and international participation. Today, USA Triathlon recognizes over 500,000 members throughout the United States.
ABOUT DSMTri: Founded in 2006, The Des Moines Triathlon Club is a 501(c)3 non-profit club registered with USA Triathlon www.usatriathlon.com. The club consists of 100+ members who encourage a fun, competitive triathlon network promoting education, fellowship and physical fitness. In 2007 the endowment fund was established at the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines. In 2009 the club was named one of the top 10 triathlon clubs in the United States, and in 2013, the first grants were provided to central Iowa athletes from the endowed funds.
