If You Build It…

I can’t remember when we started dreaming about a “triathlon farm” after we started Z3 (I don’t remember that it was too far down the road). Today it’s hard to realize the hammering, and dust, and activity between 5th and 6th on Grand Avenue is that dream.

TriMidwest will serve as an Olympic-caliber triathlon skills development and training center for athletes from across the World. And, for Z3 athletes too! It will be powered by the same Z3 staff you’ve come to know and love. And, it’s combined with an amazing facility – 50 meter pool, separate testing and training center, and much, much more.

Yes, we are truly blessed to have been able to call the YMCA Healthy Living Center home for so many years. The staff at the HLC Y have been amazing (and very understanding) to work with. At the same time, I can’t wait to get into the new facility.

The support from the community has been overwhelming. Vernon Delpesce, CEO of the Greater Des Moines YMCA, tasked us with raising a very substantial amount of funding to get the center up and running. Thanks to Tom Hamilton, almost every single penny (and a few more) of that has been raised. I was skeptical it could be done. Now it is. Thank you all for your support!

Construction workers are busy right this very moment in making those black lines in the photo above become walls, floors and more. In the coming months we’ll be updating you on their progress at the facility and our dreams for bringing and building the World’s best to Des Moines. If you have an athlete interested in being a part of Z3 – or – you are an Elite athlete looking for a training home, please drop us a line. We’d love to talk!
