About Us

What We Stand For

Our work is guided by our belief that competition teaches more than good old-fashioned physical fitness. We believe in teaching life skills through the preparation for and competition in sport — specifically triathlon. Our Seven Pillars of Excellence are:

counting-1

Integrity

“To me, integrity means to do what you know is right even when no one is looking; to be honest even when you want to lie; and, to be respectful even when you’re upset or angry.”
~ Austin Hindman (Age 16), St. Louis, MO HPT Team

counting-2

Respect

“The act of not only treating someone the way you would like to be treated but also looking up to someone to some extent. If you respect someone there is usually a quality they have that you admire.”
~ Tamara Gorman (Age 18), Rapid City, SD HPT Team

counting-3

Humility

“To be humble is to appreciate other’s strengths and weaknesses while being modest of your own.” ~ Aleena Villani (Age 17), Pleasant Prairie, WI HPT Team

counting-4

Accountability

“Accountability is taking responsibility for everything you do or say, – good or bad.” ~ Ike Mendel (Age 14), Sioux Falls, SD

counting-5

Sportsmanship

“Sportsmanship is like the “Golden Rule” of sports. Treat others the way you want to be treated. It also means caring for, respecting, and congratulating your team and your competition on and off the playing field.” ~ Gage Brinker (Age 9), West Des Moines, IA Competitive Team

counting-6

Safety

“The safety pillar means to check your equipment before using it – even making sure your shoes are tied. Remembering to not do anything that could hurt yourself or anyone else. And, make sure to help anyone who gets hurt.” ~ Mallory Metzger (Age 11), West Des Moines, IA Competitive Team

counting-7

Goal Setting

“Goal setting is a vital part of becoming a better athlete. Goals give
you motivation and define what you are training for.” ~ Luke Mohan (Age 15), Clive, IA

  • Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made
from something they have deep inside them –
    a desire, a dream, a vision.

    Muhammad Ali
  • The greater danger for most us is not
that our aim is too high and we miss it,
but that it is too low and we hit it.

    Michelangelo
  • Never underestimate the power of dreams
and the influence of the human spirit. We are
all the same in this notion, the potential
for greatness lives within each of us.

    Wilma Rudolph
  • A noble purpose inspires sacrifice, stimulates innovation and encourages perseverence.

    Steve Jobs

What We Do

We know what it takes to develop the person AND athlete. We have identified three
areas of focus that produce the greatest improvement in athletics.

Assessments & Skills Development

Assessment and development of form and skill are our “secret sauce”. We believe the improvement and perfection of form and skill will result in successful athletes at the highest level, both today and as the athlete matures into an adult.

whatwedo1

Individual Training

One-on-one training sessions and customized training prescriptions developed by our Z3 coaching staff help athletes address individual needs and pursue their dreams so they can be successful day-to-day and year-to-year.

whatwedo2

Group Training Camps

Our coached group training has been successful in pushing athletes to new heights. Even better, our daily training environment allows athletes to eat, breathe and sleep triathlon under the the supervision of expert coaches.

Who We Support

What started as a hike for cancer survivors to Mt. Everest Base Camp has turned into a vibrant group of “super-advocates” hiking, biking and running across the world. Above + Beyond Cancer is a public charity whose advocates create a public following through participation in a variety of adventurous, physical endeavors – including recent trips to Kilimanjaro and Everest. Above + Beyond Cancer advocates are our heros. That’s why we support them through fundraising and training together.
